In a recent Diablo 4 livestream(opens in new tab),
D2R Items game director Joe Shely, along with the game's associate director Joesph Piora as well as community manager Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on everything Diablo 4, as well as providing an insight into the process prior to the game's release this summer.
During the livestream during the stream, the group discussed how to play the Diablo 4 battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) as well as the game's upcoming seasons. "It's crucial for us to balance the things that you'd find on the battlefield pass" Piepiora told the crowd, "the way that they're compelling but still very fair. We don't wish to create situations in which players can feel that they have to pay. "To make a clear distinction of the battle pass from Diablo 4's seasons Piepiora explained that "the season's story is the same present in Diablo 4, in the way that you found it with Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic will give players many objectives as they progress through the season and will let players to earn game-related rewards to their character. "All of the content for the season is totally free. It's not part of the battle pass," Shely adds.
In order to clear up any confusion, Shely clarified that in the event that Diablo 4 launches on June 6 2023, the game won't be available immediately to begin season one. "Season one will launch weeks after the launch of the game. once season one is launched all players will start simultaneously, and everybody will be on an even starting point," the developer said.
