Speaking with gaming director Luis Barriga D2R Items, he stated that the first Diablo Rogue was a starting point for them to further extend the character class in Diablo IV.

"So it is the notion to say that the Rogue is the godmother, I would guess, in this particular case, is similar to other Dexterity -based classes for RPGs." was his response. "What do I mean by that is that we could include all of those things to the class we loved from The Assassin or The Demon Hunter. Then, with Diablo IV of course, we want to go beyond the D1 class.

So we've been able to take the class to be a very root fantasy as a base point from which to then integrate all the concepts that we'd like to have in the form of a Dexterity based class."

As the Rogue, you can also temporarily apply elementsal properties (frost shadow,frost, and poison) to your attack in the system known as the imbue system. Imbuing extends to all of the Rogues abilities and attacks as well. Diablo 2 Resurrected Ladder Items can also work tandem with other players. For example Frost damage will eventually freeze opponents, and Rogues who use frost as an imbue can slow down the freezing process when using Sorcerer's blizzard spells.
