Part of your video-game return to Madden is celebrating Nike's legendary Bo Knows campaign. Bring us back to beginning. How did Bo Knows present the concept to Bo Knows to you?
We came across Bo Knows accidentally. Directors, writersand sketchers -- we were sat around going over some storyboards for our next shoot. We wanted to cut the length because it seemed quite long. Everyone was giving their thoughts about this or that. I was thinking, "Why shouldn't this be done? ... Then why should we shift this to the other side, then put it here, combine it and then cut it down to five or six seconds?' They looked at me then said "Wow. It's likely to work. Someone across the table glanced towards me with a smile and replied "Bo Knows!' And it stuck. Nobody sat down and ran through their thoughts or stayed up late thinking of that catchphrase. It just happened at the war table going over the latest news.
Before you got a signature shoe, that was the Nike Air Bo Turf, in 1990, you headlined your first Nike Air Trainer 3, which became the name of your shoe. What are your fondest memories with regard to that Air Trainer 3?
The way I'll explain it in the
buy mut coins following way. In 1969 when I was in the first grade of my life in rural Alabama during winter months, it was in between 30 and 40 degrees out. And I was required to attend school barefoot. No shoes. I'm not saying this to gain sympathy or as a sob story. However, I do remember my brother being a block away from my house. I'm at the front door. Our sister was just a block away from my brother, and the other one was waiting at the bus stop. My sister was waiting at the bus stop spotted that the bus had climbed the hill just a few block away she'd yell at my sister, who would yell to my brother, and then my brother would yell at me. Then I'd take off out of the door in barefoot. When my brother reached my sister's house I'd probably caught him by the time he reached me. By the time we got at the stop for buses, I was 15 to 20 yards in front of my sister and brother. I went to school barefoot in the winter of '69 until growing up and sporting sneakers that were inspired by me ... I'm blessed.
