One of the features that I was most curious about experiencing in person was the brand new Physics system. With HyperMotion 2 being touted as an opportunity to introduce more realistic physics into games, I was eager to determine if the new features have had any real impact.
Overview
- The result is quite a mixed bag on this subject. On one hand, there's FIFA 23 Coins the updated ball physics on display at the moment you switch on the play. The ball rotates and spins accurately as you follow the ball's path through the air. But, FIFA 23 still has the capacity to be absolutely excruciating.
Goalkeepers will occasionally collapse in the middle of the field instead of trying to make a save as there are very few things more tedious than being match-up with some dweeb from Seasons, who seems more focused on doing endlessly complicated tricks and stepovers than actually playing football.
Matchmaking does seem to have been improved, though. In the case of clubs outside of the European elite you don't seem to find yourself drawn against your PSGs or your Real Madrids as often, though sometimes a Ronaldo perve is still popping on the screen in the form of Manchester United. Perhaps this is a sign of what caused the Red Devils' fall from grace more than anything else.
Ultimate Team - FIFA's playable fantasy football mode and the virtual version of the European Super League - now makes it easier to build a star-studded team due to a more forgiving approach to how its team chemistry works.
Players of the same league, or nation no longer have for them to be near each to form a team to improve your chemistry score and they won't be unable to play football just because they don't have any commonalities with their fellow players.
Some will welcome the extra flexibility it gives players when shopping in the transfer market however it seems like a huge element that made constructing teams interesting and interesting is gone. Or, in any case, FUT is still largely it's a pay-to-win game that shows every aspect of modern football. The interface is about as warm as FUT 23 Coins buy an old-fashioned Rangers pub to someone wearing an Celtic scarf.
