  • More about Sega's next generation of Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, and New Genesis is shaping up to be a significant upgrade from the current game. There are still lots of details to be revealed as time goes one, but a few major things like combat and the planet are much clearer. Hiro Arai out of Sega was live for nearly an hour to show footage off of gameplay and also talk about what new things are on the way. Not much was mentioned about the current game as well as the update coming alongside NG's launch aside from the graphic update, which will be looking fantastic.

    Maps are no longer divided up into regions with loading screens. NG is going to have an entirely open world in the home base to the field. The TGS footage showed off a gorgeous new world that's a substantial upgrade from the game. Blades of grass blow in the end, lush forests lie on the other side of valleys and frosty mountains can be viewed in the distance. Arai mentions that different regions can be attained easily simply by traversing the world. It seems like that is the planet Naberious from the present game, with forests being next to tundra and different areas. Areas are still technically divided up, but there is no loading between them. While it has not been directly said, an open world such as this suggests there might not be single party areas anymore. Most shown in the footage were multi-party areas where there were other players. The cap for multi-party places has been lowered to eight down from twelve in the present PSO2, but that you see will differ from area to area.

    Weather is making a better comeback since it changes dynamically and may affect the battlefield, although the magnitude of the impact wasn't spoken of. Time will also change, and footage showed some nice touches such as fireflies in the forests at night. There's no word on fast travel, vehicles or mounts nevertheless, but Sega has implemented several new methods for players to move quickly across this new world. Players will be able to run faster after a dodge both in and outside of battle. A blue streak follows underfoot, so you'll know you're doing it right when you view it.

    Another important addition to movement shown off in the first NG trailer is that the slide. It goes as far as some of the screenshots have made it seem. Players can get to high ground and jump off to glide and receive pretty damn much through the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll be able to make you're way up a mountain to glide away from -- but minus anything inhibiting you enjoy endurance. It will also cause some dramatic entrances in to conflict. Sega mentioned that crafting and gathering could be getting an overhaul, and while we did not get a peek at crafting, we did observe how much nicer it would be to snag items within the specialty. Gathering can be done on the fly, similar to Dragon Hunter: World. Get close to an item, and just tap a button. Fruit can be picked in trees, you will find fresh docile creatures which may be searched for meat and other items and healing items can be found throughout the property as green glowing indicators called Resta Signs. It's a lot more intuitive than PSO2 Meseta for sale the present game.
