Overview

Madden NFL 21 is a Small disappointment that feels as though it is holding back something: review

There's nothing inherently wrong with Madden NFL 21. EA's annual football video game introduces a new style, and it includes upgraded rosters. And it is built upon the legacy of last year's game, one of my preferred Maddens of recent memory.

Thing is, it doesn't really add considerably to a year's game. In fact, aside from that new mode, those upgraded rosters, and also what amounts to some on-field tuning tweaks (which really could have been an easy upgrade to Madden NFL 20), it hardly brings anything new to the table. Madden NFL 21 does not do anything wrong -- but it certainly doesn't do anything truly new, either.

It is a problem, and one that just might have you performing a double-take at dropping $59.99 for your title instead of just saving to get a next-gen console.

There is a fresh Be-a-Player mode, using a direct voiced by Tye Sheridan (Cyclops in the current series of X-films), and it's solid. And on-field gameplay keeps last year's X-factors and Superstar skills, which finally made the NFL's best players stand out somewhat out of, say, Bo Scarborough.

But this just honestly does not feel like a game that acquired any TLC. Granted, it is a tough development year given coronavirus concerns, for most games, but too many items feel undone. Playbooks are so totally untouched that I went through the specific same keystrokes I'd last year to set my pregame audibles for games against the computer from franchise style.

Speaking of franchise mode, besides some fresh menu coats of paint, that's been totally untouched -- and it's aging horribly. Madden's franchise mode has ever been lacking in relation to the greatness of NBA 2K, without a sense of participant feelings and hardly any to keep you moving from year to year besides piling up stats. The nearest thing to a new addition is the fashion veteran players will occasionally ask to"tutor" kids, but this is buy Madden nfl 21 coins not anything that you hold any true agency over. We're on the eve of a brand new line of consoles, and also in one of the essential modes, Madden really needs to step up.
