The question was: Why was there suddenly so many of these new players entering Old School RuneScape? The answer lies in a single economy that was crashing. Venezuela. Inflation rates were rising and threatening the currency of the country. For thousands of Venezuelans gaming gold has become a currency of refuge.
Overview
- I've not played any MMORPGs in the past, much to OSRS gold my pain and regret. My real-life worries are numerous and I just do not have time to allow them to entice me. Of all games it is the most time-consuming, with endless levels to conquer and items to get. Many have even died at the end or after of long sessions of RuneScape's younger but more loved sibling, World of Warcraft, which is what makes it an eerie game.
In the present, you'll generally find me having fun playing Quake or Half-Life or playing Team Fortress 2 - games that come in force, leave their mark and disappear quickly. It's great to play something I love and go on to forget about it quickly, without worrying about how many logs of wood are in my inventory or where I'll be fishing in tomorrow's session.
However, I do miss part of the endless grind and the long-term involvement (and pain) associated with RuneScape. It's now in its third version in the form of 'RuneScape 3' (from 2013) with more content and a visual overhaul, there's a glimmer of hope that I might go back to it and see how it's doing, the same way I would an old acquaintance.
Publisher Jagex has announced earlier in the year that RuneScape would be available for early access on mobile in the summer. From today, everyone can play its long-running MMORPG on iOS and Android.
RuneScape is available for free, however players can access more challenges, skills and extras. You can test the membership free of charge with the seven-day trial. Mobile versions allow the cross-play feature and cross-progression to PC which means you can hop between platforms and continue the same way you were when you quit.
It's important to note that this does not include Old School RuneScape, a version based off a build of 2007. It's been accessible to download for iOS and Android from 2018. This is the full-blown RuneScape that Jagex has been buy OSRS GP continuously making improvements to over the last 20 years.
