Jagex wrote to 117 that the company's work on the development of an HD version of Old School Runescape was "still very early in the exploratory stages" but "very far from being finished." "Naturally this means the fan-driven projects that is attempting to alter the way Old School RuneScape looks is against our own ideas," Jagex wrote to 117. "We believe it is essential that there is consistency in the way that Old School appears and that's why we want to make sure that the changes we propose are the only ones on the market. Hopefully the news about the fact that Jagex together with Old School team are tackling this project in earnest is an exciting thing for you although it may mean that we must respectfully request that you stop your personal project." 117 declared that they were offering Jagex an option that included removing their software once Jagex had released theirs, and giving Jagex "collaborative control" over Runelite HD's style and visuals.
