Description :
My mother used to make this delicious dessert when we were growing up and we could not get enough of it! She called it Hello Dolly but these days this famly favorite is also known as the Magic Bar or Sinful Bar.
Overview
- Preparation
20 minutes prep time
Bake time: 30-40 minutes
Ingredients
3 cups of graham cracker crumbs
2 sticks of butter, melted
2 cups of milk or dark semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups of shredded coconut flakes
1-2 (14 oz) cans of sweetened condensed milk
8 oz of chopped pecans (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and cook on center rack. With butter, coat a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. In a bowl, combine melted butter and graham cracker crust until throughly moist. Spread the mixture in the bottom of the baking dish and press evenly on to the bottom. Add chocolate chips and coconut flakes and spread evenly. Add pecans. Drizzle with the sweetened condensed milk and you are ready to go!
Bake for 30 minutes making sure the crust is golden brown. Remove from oven and let stand for about one hour at room temperature or put in the regridgerator to cool off. Cut into 12 bars.
Notes: This is a recipe you can adjust to your preference. Some recipes only call for one can of sweetened condensed milk but I add two and cook the dish closer to 40 minutes. You can add butterscotch chips or a mixture of other flavored chips. I also like to mix a little extra of the crust mixture and press it against the sides of the baking dish. I sometimes leave out the pecans if I don't have them on hand. I am guilty of eating this dessert when hot by the spoonful. But if you do this, prepare for a drizzly, hot, yummy mess!
